In 2012, Physiotherapist Tara McKenzie founded and established Central Coast Physiolates, beginning with a modest space within a wellness clinic in Erina.

For five years, I worked from a small room within a wellness clinic in Erina. I could treat people there, but I did not have the space to teach movement in the way I believed people needed.

I knew treatment had an important role, but I also knew that lasting change rarely happened within one or two appointments. I wanted people to have a way to spend time with me each week, practise movement with guidance and continue learning about their bodies—at a cost that made ongoing care more accessible.

In 2016, I opened Central Coast Physiolates in Holgate to bring that vision to life. Physiotherapy, education and purposeful movement could now work together, giving people the regular support they needed to create real, lasting changes in their health.

As the clinic grew, I returned to the multidisciplinary way of working that I had valued earlier in my career. I did not simply want different practitioners working under the same roof. I wanted us to talk, share knowledge across the team and bring our different skills and perspectives together around the person in front of us.

That is the team we have built.

Our clients’ needs do not always fit neatly into one box, and neither do we. Our multidisciplinary team brings together pelvic and women’s health, musculoskeletal care, cancer rehabilitation and lymphoedema, neurological and invisible conditions, massage and movement science.

We have always been pelvic floor-focused, but never pelvic floor-only. We understand that the pelvic floor is part of our fundamental movement needs—connected to breathing, pressure, strength, balance and the way the whole body moves.

No two bodies and no two presentations are the same. That is what keeps us curious. We continue to learn, ask questions and share knowledge across the team, so our care continues to grow with the people who come through our doors.

Today, our team brings together well over 150 years of combined clinical experience, along with a shared curiosity and commitment to keep learning. Although the clinic has grown, our purpose remains the same:

To help you reach a place where you wake up feeling at home in your body, rather than frustrated by it.
