Leading the way in holistic care for all Women and their families on the Central Coast.

At Alara Women’s Health, our team of dedicated team of specialist female practitioners combines expertise in clinical evidence based practice and functional health (exercise) to support every woman’s journey to be well and stay well.

Founded in 2012 by Physiotherapist Tara McKenzie, Alara Women’s Health (originally named Central Coast Physiolates) is committed to empowering women at every age and stage of life. Our brand operates under two names to highlight the importance of both the clinical space (Alara) and the functional movement space (PhysioPilates training).

When movement and clinical hands-on care are integrated into treatment, patients may experience long-term benefits, such as improved pelvic floor and core strength, enhanced overall muscle strength, increased cardiovascular fitness, and better support for bone health and mental well-being. This is particularly relevant for women above the age of 32 as they navigate the changes that come with aging.

Tara and her team are dedicated to lifelong learning, fostering a collaborative environment where all team members grow in knowledge together and share their diverse expertise. With over 80 years of combined experience, we prioritize integrity and excellence, ensuring that every woman receives the highest standard of care tailored to her needs.

Why PhysioPilates?

As the name implies, Central Coast Physiolates combines Physiotherapy and Clinical Pilates with complementary health practices like Remedial Massage and Complex Lymphoedema Therapy (CLT) for the benefit of a range of women’s health issues including:

We also specialise in:

  • Pregnancy and postpartum – caring for women during this amazing stage of life to help them take control during the birth of their baby and bounce back in the best health and shape possible.
  • Functional fitness and performance – optimising functional performance for athletes and those simply looking to return to exercise or improve/maintain their level of fitness and core strength.

We understand you

A few of our team members, including Tara, have experienced pelvic issues and understand the frustration first hand of not being able to find the right care and treatment. For some of us, this experience inspired the journey to help others avoid similar challenges.

All of us are dedicated to helping women achieve optimal physical function and improve every aspect of their lives, whether at work, at home, at rest or at play.
